Lt. Alex MaxEwen and LCpl Steven Gerrard, UK soldiers wounded in an A-10 attack. One soldier was killed and two others were wounded in the incident.
Major Tammy Duckworth, UH-60 pilot lost both legs when her helicopter was struck by an RPG. Awarded the Air Medal and Army Commendation Medal. Unsuccessfully ran as the Democratic candidate for United States Congress representing Illinois' Sixth District in 1996.
LCpl Sok Khak Ung, was part of the diversionary force in the rescue of then Pvt Jessica Lynch.8
Captai David M. Rozelle lost part of his leg when his Humvee struck a land mine. He commanded 22 tanks. He returned for a later tour.
April 7, 2004 and RPG attack in a tank wouned Gunnery Sgt. Nick Popaditch, USMC, He lost an eye in the attack. It was his second tour in Iraq. Cpl Ryan Chambers was also wounded in the attack.
December 17, 2002 - U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Michael Lyons, U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Martin and their interpreter, Afghani citizen Assadullah Khan Omerk wounded by hand grenade while in a military vehicle. Military commission has been charged in this attack.
SSG Robert D. Whisenant, was wounded twice. He also served in Desert Storm, Bosnia, and Macedonia.

September 5, 2006 - Maj. Jill M. Metzger kidnapped from a shopping mall in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. She escaped by overpowering one of her kidnappers. Major Metzger was the first woman finisher in the 2004 USAF Marathon.
March 31, 1999 - Yugoslavian forces captured three members of B Troop, 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry, I Infantry Division. They are SSG Andrew Ramirez, SSG Christopher Stone, SPC Steven Gonzales. They were driving in a Humvee. The Reverend Jesse Jackson secured their freedom. On 3/28/99 Yugoslavian forces captured, detained, and released 6 members of SFOR.
