May 2013 - The Al Qaeda sites; Ansar al-Mujahidin, Shumukh al-Islam, and Al Fida were brought down by hackers. The group Qassam HackeRs, which is sympathetic to Hamas, claimed credit for the attack.
March 2013 - An Al Qaeda web site asked for North African recruits to fight against French and allied forces in Mali.
November 29, 2012 - Syria shut down internet access nationwide.
November 19, 2012 - The Israeli government sites were subject to over 44 million cyber attacks since Israel began its operation in Gaza. One one attack had any success, it was able to take down a sie for a few minutes.
November 2012 - Anonymous launched hacking attacks against Israeli government web sites. Journalist Aaron Marcus tweeted, "Anonymous wants to shut down all websites with Hebrew, talk about walking in Hitler's footsteps.

August 2012 - Apple, Inc. removed an application advertised by Hezbollah.
January 2012 - Security and Defense Agenda stated in a study Israeli sites are attacked 1,000 times a day.
January 2012 - Israeli hackers brought down the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency website and the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange.
January 25, 2012 - Pro-Palestinian hackers attacked the Tel Hashomer hospital, The Marker, Haaretz, and the Dan bus company web sites.
January 16, 2012 - Pro-Palestinian hackers carried out denial of service attacks against the Israeli Stock Exchange, El Al, & three Israeli banks. The Saudi based hacker group identified itself as "Nightmare"and led by OxOmar.
January 2012 - The Israeli hacker group "Israel Defenders", led by "OxOmer", published credit card information on hundreds of Saudi Arabians.
December 31, 2008 - Israeli military spokesman, Maj. Avital Leibovich stated, "The blogosphere and the new media are basically a war zone".
December 2008 - The IDF posted video footage of its air strikes against Hamas on YouTube.
Hamas sympathizers flagged the video clips as objectionable so YouTube took down the footage for a few hours. YouTube restored the clips but labeled them as "inappropriate for minors."
Andrew Aaron Weisburd (http://www.simokyfed.com/mt/haganah) and friends have convinced 12 ISPs take down terrorist web sites. This includes http://www.palestine-info.info. He wrote an article that appeared on the web site http://www.israelinsider.com. Someone following his advice tracked http://www.hezbollah.org to an ISP in New Jersey, USA and notified the ISP. The ISP promptly took down the web site. The site reappeared, this time with an English ISP. A German wrote to the ISP which took down the site.
On August 17, 2002 the Hamas site www.qassam.net disappeared, but was back up on August 19, 2002. The site apparantly blocked out at least one user.
Between March 31, 2002 and April 24, 2002 there were ten hacking incidents against Israeli sites.
On October 5, 2001 the Jerusalem Post's web site was struck. Users who accessed the site saw a series of pornographic pop-ups.
On September 5, 2001 Federal US agents searched the offices of the Middle East ISP, InfoCom Corporation. This disrupted satellite TV services in the UAE. US Muslim leaders called the search an "anti-Muslim witch hunt."
As of 1 August, 2001 Palistinian sympathizers attacked 166 Israeli sites. Israeli sympathizers have attacked 34 Arab sites. Israeli defenses prevented the more serious attacks. Attempts to shut down airports, ports, banks, & the Stock Market all failed.
On October 20, 2000 Hizballa reported their web site crashed on October 7, 2000. They claim the site crashed because they got flooded with unfriendly emails from the US and Israel.
On October 24, 2000 The Jerusalem Post reported retaliatory strikes. The Israeli Prime Minister's and Defense Ministry's web site kept crashing because of the volume of email. The assault also affected NetVision which is the ISP for the Israeli Defense Force site. The Jerusalem Post also reported there were a number of sincere communications betweeen Arabs and Israelis in a number of chat rooms.
On October 25, 2000 Hackers declared war on Hizballa. Their opening salvo was to replace the page on Hizbolla's web site (http://www.hizballa.org) with a page that featured some Israeli friendly articles articles, an Israeli flag type background, and a wave that played Hatikva. On 22 August, 2001 the page still had Israeli friendly information. It featured a picture of an Israeli infant murdered by a Palistinian sniper.
On October 27, 2000 The Jerusalem Post reported many Israeli government web sites suffered heavy pinging. The IDF started subscribing to AT&T in case their ISP, NetVision, couldn't handle the load. The Knesset web site received heavy spamming. The Likud Party's site also came under attack. Israeli and sympathizer attacks continued against Palistinian and militant sites. USA today reports denial of service attacks forced the new Lebanese portal Albawaba.com to stop running. Michael Eitan of the Knesset Internet Subcommittee called for a truce.
On October 29, 2000 Hizbullah's web site http://www.almarar.com.lb was knocked down for 12 hours. A hacker with the nom de guerre Nir M replaced the sites page with one that featured an Israeli flag and pictures of the two Israeli reserve soldiers killed by a mob in Ramallah while in Palistinian Police custody. The Lebanon Daily Star reported its site was on a target list. http://www.ummah.com which hosted a site which was staging attacks against Israeli sites removed the offending site after the bandwidth provider threatened to cut their internet connection. On November 16, 2000 The Jerusalem Post reported The Open University of Israel's web site got hacked. A sketch of a boy uriniating on the Israeli flag apeared on the site. The same article also identified G-Force, a Pakistani based group, as one of the groups involved in hacking attempts against Israeli sites. The same article reported the Israeli Internet Underground (IIU) called on Ehud "The Analyzer" Tenenbaum to help Israeli web sites beef up their security. Tenenbaum reputedly hacked into the Pentagon's web site in 1998.
A parody site of the IDF site was posted. The parody site http://www.isrealdefenseforce.com had an official look. It even used some of the same graphics as the Official IDF site, http://www.idf.il. The IDF site protested to the parody site's ISP, an American ISP. The IDF also posted a warning on that http://www.idf.il is the only official IDF site.
On November 17, 2000 the http://www.isrealdefenseforce.com just had in index that showed the parent directory and the stats file.
On November 20, 2000 http://www.isrealdefenseforce.com was up again. The site no longer had the IDF graphics.
On 17 January, 2001 Ofir Rahum (16) of Ashkelon was murdered by Palestinians in El Birch. A woman he met on the internet, Amana Nana, lured him there. Then Hassan Khadid and Abdel Dula shot him dead.
The Israeli computer crime squad recovered data from Rahum's computer which led to Amana Nana's arrest. Abdel Dula, a member of the Tanzim, is still at large. The Israeli police have charged Amana Nana with voluntary manslaughter. Hassan Khaadid along with two children died in a bomb blast on 30 April 2001.
On 21 February, 2001 The Jerusalem Post reported the Egyptian Government purposely blocked the Israeli Embassy in Cario from access to some Israeli English language sites, including the Jerusalem post. The Israeli Government protested and the access was restored. The Egyptian Government claimed it was an equipment malfunction. The Israeli Government dismisses that explaination.
On 6 March, 2001 hackers struck the Hamas web site. Anyone going to http://www.hamas.org would be sent to a pornographic site.
On 21 March, 2001 the "injustice" worm was launched. The worm had a message explaining Israeli "injustices". The worm would then email the message to the first 50 people on the victim's mailing list. It would also email the message to 25 Israeli Government sites. The Injustice worm is very chivalrous. It has coding which explains exactly what it does.
On 15 June, 2001 Israeli hackers struck the web site of the UAE Newspaper Gulf News (http://www.gulfnews.com). The hacker(s) replaced the main page with an Israeli Flag and the words, "You have been hacked Long Live Israel." Gulf News replaced the page with one that read:

Gulf News yesterday shut down Gulf News Online's website because it had been hacked into by Zionist activists believed to be based in Israel. Gulf News believes that it attracted this attention due to its extensive coverage of the atrocities by the Israeli government in Palestine and the West Bank.
The Gulf News website, which is hosted in the United States, was closed down as soon as the intrusion was detected. An investigation into the breach is under way. Gulf News apologises to its readers for this appalling intrusion. Gulf News will resume online service as soon as possible.
The message was still posted instead of the newspaper on 16 June.
June 2011 - An Al-Qaida web site posted the list of government and industrial leaders as potential terrorist targets. The list included 26 pictures.
April 2010 - A radical Islamic website treatened the makers of the television series South Park for depicting the Prophet Mohammed. Comedy Central edited the next, and last show in the offending storyline. The radical Islamic website was taken down.
On 15 August, 2001 Israeli police arrested a man for making hoax warning of impending bombing attacks over the internet. The hoaxes started on August 9, 2001. Internet Zahav, Netvision, and Bezek assisted the police in tracking down the suspect.
On 1 April, 2002 the Al-Aqsa Brigade killed Mahmood Raahamie (21). They claimed he emailed information to the Israelis.
December 18, 2023 - Gonjeshke Darade shut down 2,150 gas stations in Iran.
August 18 & 19, 2005 - A virus shut down a U.S. Customs computer system for over 5 hours.
June 12 & 13, 2005 - hackers closed down antifa.ru, www.mhg.ru, & www.jewish.ru.
Twitter "mistakenly" took down accounts that were reporting on Russian troop movements.

On April 27, 2007 concentrated cyber attacks against Estonia began. The first attacks were against the Prime Minister's web site. Soon after there were attacks on newspapers, schools, banks, and other sites. A major Estonian bank had to suspend access from abroad. The heavy attack continued in waves over the next three weeks. Estonia attributes the attacks to Russia.
A Russian hacker, RyDen Alfa_X Research Group, attacked the Taliban Web site http://www.taleban.com. On 3/26/2001 those accessing that site saw:

March 2005 - Al-Qaida launched the web site Zurwat al-Sanam "The Tip of the Camel's Hump".
October 2004 - Terrorists who kidnapped Australian Journalist John Martinkus released him after reading some of his articles from a Google search.
Two Saudis sent an email from an internet cafe stating, "mission accomplished: the dog is dead". Witnesses immediately held the two men until the police arrived. They are held on suspicion of involvement in a mosque bombing that killed over 85 people including Mohammad Baqer al-Hakim, a leading cleric.
On March 31, 2003 the Department of Homeland Security learned by monitoring online meetings that the "Honker Union of China" was planning attacks on US & UK sites. The alert was for government and industry leaders. It ended up on the National Infrastructure Protection Center page.
There were 10,000 reported defacements during the week of March 24, 2003.
A bulletin board run by a High School student in Homer, AK was turned into a site for al-Qaeda propaganda.
Numerous US Federal and local government sites were flooded with anti-war and anti-Bush messages.
The Electrohippie Collective posted downloadable files for Cyber sit-ins.
http://www.noalaguerra.org organized spaming attacks against Spain's Popular Party web site. The ruling party's web site got over 100,000 hits which downed the site for almost a day.
There is a Prune worm attached to an email with the subject line, "US Government Material - Iraq Crisis".
From March 24 - March 27, 2003 a hacker calling himself Freedom Cyber Force defaced Al-Jazerra's English and Arabic web sites. John William Racine II pleaded guilty to this defacement.
When Al-Jazerra started its English site (http://english.aljazerra.net) hackers flooded the site with junk traffic.
Hackers hijacked 300 of Al-Jazerra's emails.
Al-Jazerra customers were also redirected to a porn site.
The US Military emailed a number of Iraqi commanders to urge them to surrender.
During the week of January 10, 2003 US PsyOps sent emails to Iraqi officials under the subject line "Important Infomation".
Iraq attempted to block these emails.

The State Department's Consular Lookout and Support System (CLASS) was down for a few hours on September 23, 2003 because of a computer virus.1 CLASS has the names of 78,000 terror suspects.
In October 2002 there were over 16,559 cyper attacks.

The FBH wrote on a Virgin mobile telephone ring tone download site:

The Air Force Times reported foreign hackers made 125,000 attempts to break into the Wright-Patterson AFB computer network on March 22, 2002. The network's security defeated these attempts.
The FBI took down the al-Qaeda web site alneda.com twice.
Hackers have hogged similar domain names to alneda.com.
U.S. Counter-terrorism agencies have an active campaign to exploit al-Qaeda's internet use. 1 The motive of the attack is uncertain.
An online Al-Qaeda magazine sketched out a plot to assassinate President George W. Bush. The web site may be using President Bush's name instead of the actual target. (August 12, 2004)
Al-Qaeda are using the web to communicate with each other. They use a variety of methods that include making subtle changes to their web sites, encryption software, and hidden messages inside a graphics file (steganography). The web traffic is coming out of Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, and Persian Gulf states.
A Kuwaiti tried to attack US Officer housing in Kuwait. He claimed he received instruction from the internet. (October 17, 2002)
Gary McKinnon aka "Solo" launched a series of cyber attacks on U.S. Government computers. He accessed 97 sites. He shut down 2,000 Military District of Washington computers for 24 hours. He caused $700,000 damage. His attack on the U.S. Naval Station at Earle made 300 computers inoperable.
In a possible cyper terror incident during the week of October 22, 2002 an electronic attack, which used the "Bugbear" worm, crippled 9 of 13 international servers. Seven failed to respond to legitimate traffic and two failed intermittantly. The difficulty lasted for an hour.
US Authorities used information from terrorist sites to identify charities which were channeling money to al-Qaeda.
November 2008 - Terrorists apparently used Google Earth to help plan their attack on Mumbai.
On September 27, 2002 http://www.simokyfed.com/mt/haganah reported the Pakistani ISP which hosted Mullah Omar�s site www.alemarh.com took the site down.
On July 30, 2002 http://www.alneda.com had a banner which read, "Hacked, trracked, and NOW owned by the U.S.A.
TIME Magazine reported hackers linked the al-Neda site to pornographic sites. They later installed a fake site in its place. (TIME, "Who Hacked Al-Qaeda?" by Azadeh Moaveni, Aug 6, 2002.)
Jon Messner gained control of al-Qaeda's prime Internet Communication Sites. He set up a decoy site and notified the FBI. Al-Qaeda discovered the decoy before the FBI could decide if they wanted to make use of the site. Hackers retaliated by attempting to crash Messner's web-based pornography business.
On October 25, 2001 the Osama bin Laden Virus hit the internet. It first struck in South Korea. It contains a file BINLADEN-BRAZIL.EXE.
On September 24, 2001 the War Vote worm hit the internet. It had an attachment, WTX.exe, which claimed to tablate votes for or against the US going to war. The worm would delete the files on a hard disk and would deface web sites with the message; "America...few days will show you what we can do!!! It's our turn )))ZaCker is so sorry for you."
On September 17, 2001 a chip manufacturing company took down its internal internet links until it could be assured the companies it was linking to had appropriate security.
On September 13, 2001 The Jerusalem Post reported US supporters posted information about Arab nets and extremist Muslim sites that would be of value to people who wanted to hack into these sites.

attachment. When the attachment is being run, it displays a messagebox

January 2009 - Chinese attackers make several hundred daily attacks against US military, infrastructure, and financial computers.

On July 24, 2001 the US Department of Defense closed down many of their web sites. The DoD did this to protect itself from a worm called "Code Red". The worm uses the term "Hacked by Chinese" the GAO testified the worm originated in Guadong, China. There had previously been unsuccessful attempts to infect the White House web site with this worm.
Chinese hackers attacked a number of US web sites heavily during the week of 30 April. Among the sites defaced were;

The Red Guest Alliance and Honker Union of China have claimed credits for such attacks.
There was an attack against The White House Drug Policy web site however the site's defenses defeated the attack.
Chinese hackers have reportedly attacked over 1,100 American web sites since the mid air collision between a Chinese jet fighter and a US Navy survellance plane. Most of the attacks involved defacement of web site. The Hackers Union of China is one group involved in these attacks. There has been a worm named Lion released in these attacks. This worm copies password files to a site in China. It attacks unix systems. Previously Chinese attackers have launched attacks against various countries:
† Taiwan because they elected an Independence minded president.
† Japan because of some Historically revisionist statments made by their Prime Minister.
† Indonesia because of their mistreatment of ethnic Chinese.
† The U.S. because of the bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Yugoslavia.
† China because they were slow to restore internet service after a mishap.
China claims there have been over 1,600 attacks against its sites since the 1 April collision. It claims a group calling itself PoizonBox has made a number of attacks against Chinese government sites.
WEB WAR I
In the NATO-Yugoslavian conflict people from both sides of the conflict attempted to use the web as a weapon.1 Yugoslavians started this cyber conflict. Then after US aircraft bombed the Chinese Embassy Chinese joined in.
Attacks included:
Spam e-mailing of the Pentagon and NATO web sites.
An unsuccessful attempt to break into the White House Web site's operating system.
Trashing the U.S. Embassy web site in Bejing. A Chinese site which tells how to strike at the U.S. through the web.

On May 2 Dutch hacker(s) "dutchtreat" hacked six Yugoslavian sites with this message:
"www.dutchthreat.org condemns all activities againts human rights.Pro NATO, peace."
