August 18, 2004 - USAF C-130s flew 124 Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom Sorties. They carried 1,700 passengers and 373 short tons of cargo. C-130s from RAF, RAAF, Japanese Self Defense Force, and CAF supported these operations.

SYRIA

August 25, 2022 - AC-130 gunships, along with AH-64 Apache helicopters, and M-777 artillery attacked Iran-affiliated militans. The attack destroyed 10 rocket launchers and killed four militants.

    November 2012 - A mortar attack damaged a C-130 at Shank.
    August 15, 2011 - A C-130 collided with an RQ-7 Shadow. The C-130 was slightly damaged. The Shadow crashed.

    October 2, 2015 - A USAF C-130 crashed in Jalalabad, Afghanistan. The crash killed 6 Airmen and 5 civilian contractors.
    December 9, 2019 - A Chilean Air Force C-130 crashed on its way to Antarctica. All 38 on board are presumed dead. October 2, 2015 - Human error caused a C-130J to crash at Jalalabad. The crash killed 14.
    May 19, 2013 - A C-130J made a hard landing at Forward Operating Base Shank. It was damaged beyond repair, $20 million in parts were salvaged from the aircraft. The mishap was attributed to excess speed on landing.
    July 1, 2002 - an AC-130 attacked six suspected AAA sites. The AC-130 apparently killed 48 civilians and wounded 117 others.
    A USAF MC-130H, Serial Number 84-0475, of the 16th Special Operations Wing crashed on take-off in Afghanistan on June 12, 2002. There were three fatalities. SFC Peter P. Tycz II (USA), TSgt Sean M. Corlew (USAF), and SSgt Anissa A. Shero (USAF).
    A USMC KC-130R of the MART Squadron 352 crashed in Shamsi, Pakistan on January 9, 2002. All seven Marines on-board perished in the crash. Two bullets struck an MC-130H in the Philippines on 30 January, 2002.
    A USAF MC-130P crashed on February 13, 2002, no fatalities.

    LIBERIA

    An MC-130P Combat Shadow went to Senegal to support operations in Liberia.
    An MC-130P refueled three HH-60Gs during an infiltration mission.
    OPERATION ESSENTIAL HARVEST

    USAF C-130s flew US, British, and French troops into Macedonia.
    OPERATION ALLIED FORCE

    An MC-130 supported the rescue operation for the downed F-117A pilot. As of 11 April 1999 RAF C-130s have delivered 40 tons of supplies. An EC-130E dubed Commando Solo of the 193rd Special Operations Wing transmits to the Serbs. C-130 ABC3 aircraft supported a successful attack on an SA-6 site. A C-130 made a test landing on the Kukes airfield after it was upgraded by the UAE. AC-130s of the USAF 16th Special Operations Wing have started flying sorties against Yugoslavian forces on April 14. The US didn't mention their participation until 20 May. C-130s delivered 7,550 passengers and 3,865 tons of cargo as part of Operation Shining Hope.

    OTHER OPERATIONS

    An Indonesian Air Force C-130, with the Israeli Defense Force's permission, air dropped humanitarian supplies to Gaza on April 9, 2024. As of March 13, 2024 USAF made 8 air drops. They dropped 204,000 meals, 48,000 bottles of water, and over 5,000 pounds of food items. March 7, 2024 - USAF and Royal Jordanian Air Force C-130s airdropped 38,000 meals over the Gaza coastline.

    January 14, 2009 - A Special Ops MC-130H BEGAEN Capt. Daniel Santoro, a C-130 pilot won the Cheney Award. Captain Santoro's leadership and foresight led his squadron to successfully complete 29 missions, delivering 95 passengers and 211 tons of humanitarian aid to the war-torn country of Georgia, following an August 2008 Russian invasion.

    In October 2002 WC-130s flew Hurricane Hunter missions to track Hurricane Lili. Captain Robert Light was an aircraft commander for a mission on 10/2/2002. MSgt Deano Harrison was a dropsonde Systems Operator for a 10/2/2002 mission. A WC-130 that flew a 10/3/2002 mission had the tail number 50968. The 53rd Weather Recconnaisance Sq flew these missions.
    On September 25, 2002 three C-130s transported 200 US Army troops to Ghana so they could protect American children during a coup attempt in the Ivory Coast. On 26 September a C-130 flew the American children out of the Ivory Coast.
    On September 6, 2002 a USMC KC-130 refueled two USAF Pave Hawk helicopters during a rescue operation that rescued two men from a 30' yacht in the North Atlantic.
    On July 13 & 14, 2002 C-130s of the 145th AW, North Carolina ANG, dropped 200,000 gallons of fire retardent.
    An AC-130 of the 4th Special Operation Squadron found two stranded jet skiers on June 14, 2002.

    August 17, 2014 - A Wyoming Air National Guard C-130 had to make an emergency landing while it was on a firefighting mission.
    March 8, 2024 - A malfunction in the parachute system on a pallet of MREs dropped from a C-130 killed 5 Palestinians. May 2, 2018 - A WC-130 crashed in Savannah, Georgia killing 5 on board
    July 10, 2017 - A USMC KC-130 crashed and killed 16 on board.
    December 13, 2015 - SrA Jeremy Jutbe-Hake died of a heart attack while serving as a loadmaster on a C-130. The C-130 had an inflight emergency but his death was not related to the emergency.
    July 27, 2014 - A stow away died inside the wheel well of a C-130 that flew from Africa to Germany, with multiple stops.
    July 2, 2012 - A C-130 involved in the firefighting efforts crashed in South Dakota. Killed were Lt. Col. Paul K. Mikeal, Maj. Joseph M. McCormick, Maj. Ryan S. David, and SMSgt. Robert S. Cannon.
    October 29, 2009 - A US Coast Guard C-130 crashed with an AH-1 Super Cobra. The seven on board the C-130 and the crew members of the AH-1 are believed killed.
    March 31, 2005 - The loss of situational awareness caused the crash of a USAF MC-130H Combat Talon II, Serial Number 87-0127, crashed and killed 9 crew members. Those killed were:

    June 30, 2003 - An Algerian C-130 crashed. Four crew members and four others died in the crash.
    On June 25, 2003 an Iranian C-130 crashed. The crash killed seven people.
    On August 7, 2002 a USAF Special Operations Command MC-130H crashed in Puerto Rico. Ten Air Force members died in the crash. Link to Casualty List
    June 17, 2002 - A Hawkins & Powers Aviation, Inc. C-130 crashed while on a fire fighting mission. Steven Ray Wass (pilot), Craig LaBare (co-pilot), and Michael Davis (crewman) died in the crash.

    USAF C-130s had 3 Class A mishaps in FY-2002. There were no USAF C-130 Class A mishaps in FY-2003.
