OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM
& B-52s crews have received 7 Distinguished Flying Crosses and at least 24 Air Medals for Operation Enduring Freedom
The 457^th flew 120 Operation Iraqi Freedom sorties, 1,600 flying hours. It dropped 3.2 million pounds of explosives and 2,700 individual weapons. It also dropped 70% of the leaflets.
2017 - B-52s flew 277 sorties without a single cancelation from maintenance problems.
May 2006 - Provided support to coalition forces in Bagram, Gereshk, Kandahar, Orgun-E, Shkin.
April 2006 - Provided close air support to coalition troops in Asadabad, Deh Rawood, Jalalabad & Kandahar.
March 2006 - Provided close air support to coalition troops in Asadabad, Deh Rawood, Gereshk, Kandahar, Qalat, Orgun-E, and Oruzgan.
February 28, 2006 - Provided close air support to Coalition troops in contact with enemy forces in the vicinity of Jalalabad and Tarin Kowt.
February 26, 2006 - Provided Close Air Support at Orgun-E.
February 4, 2006 - Helped repulse an enemy attack.
December 15, 2005 - A B-52 supported ground forces in Qalat.
November 2005 - A B-52 supported ground forces in Kandahar.
November 16, 2005 - A B-52 bombed a cave.
October 2005 - A B-52 supported ground forces in Asmar, Gereshk and Shkin.
A B-52 destroyed a cave position, killed 2 Talibans, and assisted in capturing 10 others.
A B-52 bombed rebel position on July 24, 2003.
A B-52 dropped a 2,000 lb JDAM bomb as part of Operation Eagle Fury
A B-52 supported the battle outside Spin Boldak (January 27-30, 2003)
On December 1, 2002 a B-52 dropped seven 2,000 pound bombs on suspected enemy positions after an attempt to ambush a Special Forces convoy.
On October 28, 2001 a B-52 dropped 45 x 500 pound bombs and drestroyed 450 vehicles and killed 3,500 enemy troops.
A B-52 destroyed at least 25 tanks and killed about 1,000 troops.
B-52s flew 756 Operation Enduring Freedom sorties.
On December 28, 2001 B-52, along with 2 B-1Bs attacked a Taliban compound. The attack destroyed 12 buildings and killed 107 Talibans, incuding Qari Ahmedullah and Mullah Adbul Ssaalam Rocketi.
A B-52 bombed the Zawar Kili camp on January 10, 11 & 13, 2002.
B-52s have been attacking underground bunkers.
On October 15, 2001 a B-52 dropped 480,000 propaganda leaflets.
Stratofortresses flew sorties in the October 7, 2001 strike.
On July 1, 2002, a B-52 attacked a cave complex with 2,000 pound bombs.
At least two B-52s struck a Taliban leadership compound Southwest of Kandahar on December 26, 2001.
B-52s carpet bombed Taliban positions outside Bagram AB on October 31.
A B-52 dropped 2,000 pound JDAMs on enemy troops during the battle of Roberts Ridge, 3 March, 2002.
A B-52 destroyed a mortar position during Operation Anaconda.
B-52s bombed al-Qaeda positions during Operation Anaconda.
A B-52 bombed al-Qaeda's Zawar Kili Camp on January 4, 2002 with satellite-guided bombs (JDAM).
A 2,000 pound JDAM dropped by a B-52 killed three US Army soldiers and 5 Alliance troops. The bomb also wounded 20 US Army soldiers and 20 Alliance troops. Among the wounded were SFC Ronald Raikes and SSgt Michaael McElhiney.
OPERATION DESERT FOX
15 B-52s launched over 90 cruise missiles against Iraq.
B-52s attacked targets on January 6, 2002.
Airfields Disabled 10 OTHER OPERATIONS
November 13, 2013 - Two B-52s saved a disoriented Cessna pilot in Alaska.
May 19, 2016 - A B-52 crashed after aborting takeoff at Andersen AFB, Guam. No crew members were injured.
July 21, 2008 - An improper stabilizer trim setting caused a B-52 crash off the coast of Guam. All six crewmembers of 'Raider 21' died. The crew was buried in Arlington National Cemetary on November 14, 2008.
June 22, 2003 - A B-52 missed its target during a training exercise. The bombs killed USMC Captain Seth R. Michaud and injured eight US Marine and Navy personnel in Djibouti. The explosion also damaged two CH-53Es.
EARLIER HISTORY
The USAF used B-52 Stratofortresses in Vietnam and Operation Desert Storm.

There have been no B-52 class A mishaps for FY2002 - FY2004. There was one class A mishap for FY-2005.
Mission-Capable Rates: 2001 - 80.5%; 2002 - 79.2%; 2003 - 74.5%; 2004 - 76.7%; 2005 - 74.7%
